Max Jarvie joins the BLG Privacy and Data Protection Group

BLG is very proud to welcome Max Jarvie in the Privacy and Data Protection Group. He will be advising and assisting clients on a wide range of issues, including privacy and anti-spam, distributed ledger technology (blockchain), information security, licensing and consumer protection matters.

Max brings a strong technical and blockchain legal expertise. Before studying law, he worked in information technology as a project manager and departmental director at a number of private companies and public institutions. Max is also a frequent speaker on technology, blockchain, cryptocurrency and legal implications and teaches Tax Implications of Cryptocurrencies at McGill Faculty of Law. This expertise will offer a distinctive advantage for our clients operating in the financial services space as well as clients leveraging  cutting-edge technologies.

Max has a Master in Philosophy from London School of Economics and a Ph.D from McGill University. He has previously served as a law clerk at the Supreme Court of Israel for Justice Hanan Melcer and at the Court of Appeal for Quebec for the Honourable Nicholas Kasirer. He has also authored several publications, including a book chapter in LexisNexis 2015 Practical Guide to E-Commerce and Internet Law.
