Conference Board of Canada Privacy Summit 2017
The Conference Board of Canada is hosting its annual Canadian Privacy Summit on May 2-3 2017 at the BMO Financial Group Institute for Learning, Toronto, Ontario.
This Summit is designed for top experts and key stakeholders in the technology and privacy communities, and across diverse sectors in Canada, to assess the latest developments and build solutions for Canada. Stakeholders will share their experiences and best practices to provide decision makers with innovative solutions. Participants at this event will be technology experts, policy and decision makers including Chief Analytics Officers, Chief Marketing Officers, Chief Data Officers, Chief Data Scientists, tech innovators, and public and private sector privacy leaders.
I will be moderating the panel on “Global Regulatory Trends: Positioning Canada for Economic Prosperity”. This panel session will explore Canada’s evolving strategic privacy and data protection framework within a world of regulatory and geo-political change. The discussion will cover the EU’s GDPR and the threat to adequacy status, the right to be forgotten, consent, CASL, data and politics, and extra territorial issues. Panelists include Daniele Chatelois, Manager, Policy, Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, Dean Dolan, Counsel, International Commercial, Baker McKenzie LLP, Paul McKay, Vice-President, Deputy Global Compliance Chief and Global Chief Privacy Officer, Manulife, John Proctor, Vice-President, Global Cyber Security, CGI Group Inc. and John H. Weigelt, National Technology Officer, Microsoft Canada.
I will also moderate an interactive session on facial recognition analytics with David Fewer, Director, Samuelson-Glushko Canadian Internet Policy and Public Interest Clinic (CIPPIC), University of Ottawa.
